Israel hits Gaza after UN truce resolution

Fresh Israeli attacks kill at least 9 Palestinians despite the UN Security Council’s resolution calling for an immediate end to the Gaza conflict.

At least thirty targets were hit on the fourteenth day of the Israeli military campaign in the impoverished coastal strip.

Israeli blitz and tank shells killed at least nine people including four children.

Six members of a single family, were killed in the new overnight Israeli air raids on the Gaza Strip, AFP quoted medics and witnesses as saying on Friday.

The wife, sister-in-law and four children of Fayez Salha, a local leader of the leftist Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) were killed in the attacks. Salha himself was wounded in the strike in Jabaliya refugee camp near the Gaza City.

The other three Palestinians were killed by Israeli tank shells around the areas of Deir al-Balah and Nusseirat, the sources said.

The attacks come just hours after the United Nations Security Council adopted a resolution late on Thursday, calling for an immediate ceasefire and the full withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip.

Since Israel launched “Operation Cast Lead”, 781 people have been killed and nearly 3,100 others have been wounded, Palestinian emergency services said.
